Hunt Valve Corporation

Client

Hunt Valve Company (“HVC”) is a $40 million manufacturer of high quality and critical duty valves for US Navy craft and for industrial applications.

Challenge

For a number of years, HVC had been considered a reliable source of critical duty valves for the Navy and two other customers. After a change in quality control personnel, certain manufacturing and testing procedures came into question. While internally addressing these issues, the Company was raided and shut down by a U.S. Government investigation team because of alleged mismanagement. Bridge’s was asked by HVC’s equity sponsor to take 30 days and perform a comprehensive analysis of the Company’s manpower structure, manufacturing operations, and quality control measures; evaluate HVC’s capital structure, cash flow, liquidity and customer relations; and, review the potential for divestiture of operations.

Solution

Bridge created a team of its professionals with experience in financial analysis, operations production planning and process improvement to perform the study. The Bridge Team visited all of HVC’s operations in Ohio and Texas; analyzed key financial and operating information; reviewed operating and quality control processes and interviewed employees critical to these areas of HVC’s operations in order to assess the situation.

Results

Bridge delivered its report within the requested timeline, and made a formal presentation to HVC’s investment group and HVC executive management. Numerous recommendations were made regarding management of cash and operating costs. Bridge also provided a blueprint of innovative measures for HVC to move forward on production and quality improvements in order to satisfy the U.S. Government allegations raised by the investigation team.
